In September we joined Scandinavian Startup Week in Montréal, Canada and let me tell you - it was a week we will never forget! During the week we met some wonderful people and gained invaluable input for our business idea Margins. And off course we squeezed in a hockey game :)

As we talked about before, Margins by Particles was selected to join Scandinavian Startup Week in 2018. Scandinavian Startup Week selected nineteen startups from four different business accelerators in Sweden whom would get the opportunity to widen their business network in North America.

Due to some unpredictable weather in Europe the flight to Canada was delayed, but on Saturday the 22nd we finally arrived in Montréal. The weekend was over in a flash with so much to see in the beautiful city of Montréal. In Swedish terms it’s a big city, but it felt surprisingly homely.

On Monday we started off with pitch coaching. During the week we got to pitch our business idea at least a dozen of times, and boy did we learn a lot. The pitch we did in the beginning of the week felt a bit stiff and boring. But with valuable coaching throughout the week our pitch got more polished and interesting. We dare to say we have a proper elevator pitch now, ready to knock your socks off. On Monday we also got to meet Montréal International informing us on how to run a business in Canada - thank you for having us.

Tuesday was a very exciting day for us where we got to visit IBM:s Watson Center. IBM very kindly shared their thoughts about AI and machine learning and we were all ears. Since the visit to IBM in Montréal we actually already had a meeting with IBM back in Sweden, proving yet again what an exciting company they are.

More pitch training going on during Wednesday and later that night we all went to a hockey game. What a incredible night! Truly a childhood dream come true for Margins founder Andreas.

On Thursday we got some valuable insights from Business Sweden and met up with entrepreneurs from the startup hub District 3.

On Friday the trip was coming to an end and we were packing our bags. Although we felt like we just couldn't leave without meeting up with Shopify who have their headquarters in Montréal. Said and done, we went down to Shopify and got a tour of their offices. Such a inspiring company!

We want to thank Kalmar Science Park for letting us tag along on the 2018 edition of Scandinavian Startup Week. It really gave us the energy boost we needed and wonderful experiences. Merci beaucoup!

Hello Canada!

We’ve got some really exiting news. In a couple of days we are going to Montreal, Canada together with Scandinavian Startup Week! In Montreal we will be meeting partners, investors and potential customers. We are thrilled!

Margins by Particles is a part of the Kalmar Science Park Incubator in Sweden. The Incubator offer us valuable tools to develop our product in a competitive way. Every now and then we also get some really great offers to tag along on events and trips, such as this one to Canada.

Scandinavian Startup Week is a initiative to introduce Scandinavian startups to international markets. The startups from four business accelerators in Sweden participate: BizMaker, Företagsfabriken, Movexum and Kalmar Science Park. We are so honored to be one one of nineteen selected startups from these accelerators which will get the opportunity to participate in the program to widen our business network in North America.

The program consists of meetings with partners, investors and customers and visits to Chamber of Trade, Montreal City and Canadian accelerators and coworking spaces. Margins by Particles hope to meet some online business who are interested in trying our competitive price tracker and are very exited to make some new friends on the e-commerce scene of Montreal.

Stay tuned for a full report on the adventures of Margins by Particles on the Canadian market.
